In Kenya, refugee claims based on sexual orientation or gender identity are facing long delays, which is from being resettled in other countries. 

There are more than 219,000 asylum seekers in Kenya whose refugee status has not yet been determined, the United Nations' refugee agency UNHCR said this month. Among them are 糖心传媒 refugees from neighbouring countries.

Before he took office, Trump vowed to toughen immigration enforcement to make it harder for everyone to migrate to the United States.

After months of hiding from the Taliban, Mohammed fled Afghanistan and spent weeks travelling, first to Pakistan and the United Arab Emirates, then onto Europe to seek asylum.

When he reached Ireland, Mohammed said he hoped for "a safe place to rest, and the possibility to work". Instead, he found himself homeless on the streets of Dublin.

Kabinet Camara says he fled in fear from the west African state of Guinea six years ago after receiving threats because of his work at an organisation fighting child exploitation.

"The government started opposing me and it was very hard to defend myself from the attacks. Eventually, I was forced to flee," he said.

Russia's invasion of Ukraine last year sparked the biggest refugee crisis in Europe since World War Two, but also a wave of solidarity as thousands opened their homes to Ukrainians and EU states gave them rights and benefits akin to their own citizens.

The European Union swiftly granted temporary protection to millions of fleeing Ukrainians, giving them immediate rights to work and access to education, healthcare, welfare and housing, almost the same as local nationals.
